China has been making noteworthy offshore oil discoveries recently. Earlier this month, state-run China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the country’s largest offshore driller, announced a breakthrough in its exploration of the Mesozoic volcanic rocks in Bohai Bay.
